University of Arkansas offers undergraduate and graduate programs in audiology and speech pathology. The undergraduate program in audiology and speech pathology is a preprofessional program following the guidelines of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The undergraduate curriculum by itself does not certify the student to work as a professional, but provides the preprofessional background needed to pursue graduate training, Arkansas Board of Examiner licensing, and ASHA certification in speech-language pathology or audiology.

The Master of Science in Communicative Disorders program prepares students for professional positions working with persons with hearing, speech, language, voice, literacy, and fluency disorders in hospital clinics, rehabilitation centers, schools, residential institutions, private practices, and other settings. A concentration is offered in speech-language pathology. The curriculum emphasizes the speech, language, and hearing processes, knowledge about human communication disorders, and evaluation and treatment methods. Practicum experiences are available at a wide variety of area institutions.

The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology also offers a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree program through the College of Health Related Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in a consortium with the College of Professional Studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This unique educational and training consortium combines the academic and clinical resources of a major medical sciences campus with those of a large, comprehensive, metropolitan university. The curriculum is designed to emphasize the science of hearing, speech, and language; the acquisition of knowledge about human communication disorders, and the study and practice of methods for evaluation and treatment. Practicum experiences are provided at a number of different settings, primarily in the central Arkansas area. Two program tracks are offered to students: one is the post-baccalaureate track and the other is the post-master's track.

The Ph.D. program in Communication Sciences and Disorders, offered through a consortium of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and the University of Central Arkansas, is a research-based program designed to prepare graduates to be faculty members and scientists at institutions of higher education. The program is rigorous in its research and scientific base, yet it allows for several different areas of specialization. Graduates will be prepared for research, grant writing, teaching, and supervision through pedagogy and mentorship.
